  3. Benefits of a proper diet • Energy • Healthy skin/hair • Healthy heart • Strong muscles and bones • Good bodily functions

Vitamins & minerals • Vitamin A: eyesight, growth, appetite, taste • Without: night blindness • Vitamin B: nervous system, digestion, muscles, heart, repair damaged nerve tissue • Without: tingling in fingers and toes, difficulty balancing, loss appetite, losing concentration • Vitamin C: immune system, healing • Without: fatigue, bleeding gums, slow healing wounds • Vitamin D: strong bones, muscles • Without: unhealthy teeth, weak bones. • Iron: red blood cells, muscle functions, immune system • Without: fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating.

  5. Personal note (I was 7 years old)One day I was told that I was Iron deficient. Because I couldn’t stay awake, I was struggling in school, and I was moody. So my family started watching me to see what was wrong with me. And we figured out I hadn’t eaten anything in 5 days. So I had to start eating more than I was used to gain back the pounds I had lost. Well, I learned my lesson on watching what I eat. But it might come differently to others… And that’s why I chose this topic…

  6. 10 healthy snacks • 1… pop corn • 2… sugar free jello • 3… oranges • 4… pickles • 5… non fat cottage cheese • 6… protein bars • 7… broccoli • 8… green salad • 9… grapes • 10… hard boiled eggs

  7. Food pyramid • Grain: you need about 6-11 servings a day. It can give you energy. • Veggies: you need about 3-5 servings a day. It can help you build strong bones and muscles. • Fruit: you need about 2-4 servings a day. It can give you energy and protect your immune system. • Dairy: you need about 2-3 servings a day. It can give you healthy teeth and bones. • Meat: you need about 2-3 servings a day. It can give you energy and help built muscle. • Sugars: use sparingly. • All of these have tons of vitamins and minerals but it will vary based on what you choose.

  8. Why do people choose fast food?? • Others choices • Availability • Convenience What restaurants serve fast food?? McDonald’s Wendy’s Arby’s Panda Express ( just to name a few )

  9. Effects to unhealthy eating • Short term • Bloating • Fatigue • Metabolism spikes • acne • Long term • Obesity • Heart disease • Diabetes • Dental problems • Brittle bones • Unhealthy skin/hair • Decreased lung capacity

  10. Health triangle • mental: you feel self conscious • Social: you don’t want to go out because you afraid of what people will think. • Physical: you look and feel over weight and are unable to do physical activities because you are out of breath.

  11. Activity!!!!♥♥  • 1 person I going to be blind folded. I will give them a food and they have 45 seconds to figure it out. • We will do this 5 times
