Grasslands . by Emily Allgood and Shyann Rolenc . Biomes. Biomes are very large areas on Earth’s surface with animals and plants adapting to the environment. There are many types of Biomes some are grasslands, tundra, tropical rainforest, and ocean. Types of Grasses .

  2. Biomes • Biomes are very large areas on Earth’s surface with animals and plants adapting to the environment. • There are many types of Biomes some are grasslands, tundra, tropical rainforest, and ocean.

  3. Types of Grasses • There are many types of grasses in the grassland, some are… • Short grasses • Turkey grass • But mainly Tall grass

  4. Location • Grasslands are located in the middle of anywhere. • Some Grasslands are located in Africa, Midwest of the United States, and the Savannas. • Grasslands are located around the ocean and in the middle of the United States because they are normally wet. This is a map of where grasslands are located.

  5. Animals • There are many animals in the Grassland some are carnivores and some are herbivores. • Some carnivores are coyotes ,badgers, black-footed ferrets, and wild boars. • Some herbivores are Siberian chipmunks, bison, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, and pampas deer. • There are some unique animals in the grassland. This is a picture of a Siberian Chipmunk.

  6. Climate • The grassland has a humid and dry climate, a humid climate can be sticky or hot. • If the air is sticky it is humid. • The grassland has irregular rainfall. • An irregular rainfall means the area has very little amount of rain.

  7. Insects • There are many different types of insects. • Some include: grasshoppers, different species of beetles, bumblebees, and the monarch butterfly . • These are the many different types of insects in the grassland.

  8. Plants • The grassland has many plants, too. • Milkweed and poison ivy are the plants in the grassland • Milkweed grows up to be 2 to 31/2 feet tall. • Milkweed has white poisonous sap from which it gets its name. • Milkweed has big leaves that can grow to be 9 inches • Poison ivy mainly grows in empty spaces. • Poison ivycan make you itch. • Both plantsgrow in the United States.   9. Temperature • Many different climates and temperatures. • Cool winters • Warm summers • Tropical grasslands have warm climates and temperatures.

  10. Conclusion • This is most of the information on the grassland. This is mostly about all the animals ,the insects, the landforms, plants, and the location.
