  2. TEXT 1 • 50% of final AS grade (25% of final grade) • 2 hour written paper • 80 marks • Section A Materials & Components RO • Section B Design & Market Influences AC • Section C Processes & Manufacture RO

  3. TEXT 2 • 50% of final AS grade (25% of final grade) • 50 hours coursework • 80 marks • Written portfolio – combination of the 3 projects that you will work through. Child’s bag, Italian inspired fashion top/dress and Product Study. • 2 Manufactured outcomes – bag and dress/tops

Expectations • Be prepared – text book and folder to all theory lessons (1 per week) • Look up topics and read ahead so that you can participate fully in discussion and Q & A • Check Fronter and email regularly– if printing PP’s do so as handouts; print questions, etc for use in theory lessons • Read widely (not just Vogue!) • Research thoroughly • Reflect regularly and try alternative approaches if you are struggling • Be organised, don’t wait to be told. Strive to be efficient • Show independence in solving problems • Work collaboratively • Question • Challenge yourself • Meet deadlines – you have elected to study textiles, I expect commitment!

History • Last year we entered 7 candidates for AS - 3A, 2B and 2C • At A2 we had 12 candidates -1A*, 4A, 3B, 4C • Most met target grades • We expect to do even better this year – 11 AS candidates with 10 A grades expected and 1B • Textiles is consistently one of the best performing departments in the sixth form • Many MGGS students have gone on to successfully study Textile related courses at university

  6. Summer holiday work • Buy a book for your coursework • Start the children’s bag project. Copy up the context and brief into the front of the book. • Leave 2 pages (or 3 if your book is a slightly smaller size) for product analysis that we will do at the beginning of the September term • Complete approx. 20 design ideas – in pencil, annotated clearly with information regarding fibres and fabrics, techniques, USP and TMG. • This must be ready to hand in on Monday 8th September
