  1. ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME (EP)FOR ME DEPARTMENT STUDENTS- MATRICULATION BATCHES 2000/2001 & 2001/2002 DEPT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE

  2. Highlights • Four EP points are required for graduation. • The points can come from one or more EP activities. • Each student is assigned a Faculty Member as Mentor to guide him/her. • Department coordinators for EP activities may also be consulted.

  3. Main EP Activities

Innovation Programme • semester-long innovative activity for 20 Engineering (ENG) students per semester • engagement on a hands-on basis to create an outcome that has a practical significance • under guidance of a group of mentors • points awarded by mentors based on student’s effort and outcome • Website:http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/undergrad/ep/ip.html

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) • Involving 65 working hours over 2 semesters • providing the opportunity to acquire skills for the intellectual process of inquiry and presentation • Enhancing their knowledge of the latest technology • Allowing students and faculty members to interact so as to foster closer ties • Website:http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/urop/

Semester Industrial Attachment Programme (Local or Overseas) – SIAP or OIAP • Students must have completed Stage 2. • Duration is 6 months (24 weeks) • Semester 6 is the best period to undertake the SIAP or OSIAP for most ME students • Faculty members assigned as Liaison Officers • Four points are awarded • Website:http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/undergrad/ep/siap.html

Vacation Internship Programme (Local or Overseas) • Students must have completed Stage 2. • Undertaken in any of the student vacations. • Internships to be initiated by students • Mentors will act as Liaison Officers • One point/month (4 weeks) awarded • Website:http://www.eng.nus.edu.sg/undergrad/ep/vip.html

Research-based Vacation Internship Programme (at NUS) – RBVIP • Variation of the VIP. • Students must have completed Stage 2. • Duration is 10 weeks. • Students will be invited to apply (limited no. of internships available). • Supervisors will be Faculty members. • Two points per internship are awarded.
