  2. Scotland’s Crown Jewels consists of four parts, the Crown itself, the Scepter, the Sword and it’s Scabbard. The Scepter signified the sacred nature of kingship, bestowing an authority to rule with discretion and sincerity, not with tyranny and partiality. The Sword, on the other hand, was a symbol of power on earth, imposing on its holder a duty both to dispense justice and to protect his subjects from their enemies.
