  1. GeoPowering the WestInformation Dissemination & Outreach Web Site Design Strategy Net Meeting 20 November 2001

  2. Background • Under contract to DOE’s Office of Wind & Geothermal Energy, BL&A will create a web site to help promote GeoPowering the West(GPW). • The web site will coordinate with and support the current GPW web site: http://www.eren.doe.gov/geopoweringthewest/.

  3. Background • This net meeting is related to the 12/11/01 GPW Planning Event convened by DOE. • It will give you some more information on what BL&A will be doing.

  4. Web Site Objective • The purpose of the web site is to promote geothermal development in 19 western states: • Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

  5. Strategy Meeting • We ask for your suggestions, comments, input, etc., as we design and build the web site. • We also ask for your feedback on the net meeting technology.

  6. Web Site Objective • The web site will serve as a central clearinghouse of information for GeoPowering the West and interested parties. • It will contain—and link to—detailed information on items of interest to local stakeholders, decision makers, developers, and entrepreneurs.

  7. Web Site Details • It will be open to the public. • A counter will be placed on the web site to measure how many times it has been “hit.” • The web site will be launched in late December.

  8. Target Audience • Geothermal entrepreneurs and businesses. • Local and state legislators, mayors’ offices, town halls. • Native American tribes and organizations. • Chambers of commerce, trade associations, business groups. • Environmental groups. • Financing sources.

  9. Proposed Web Site Content • Local, state, and federal legislation and policies which support the development of renewable energy in general, and geothermal energy specifically.

  10. Proposed Web Site Content • Locations of geothermal resources, including links to State databases. • Information on State Working Groups. • Information on the National Geothermal Coordinating Committee (NGCC).

  11. Proposed Web Site Content • News on upcoming meetings, workshops, etc. • Success stories, best practices, and case studies. • NREL state PDF summaries.

  12. Proposed Web Site Content • GPW Broad-Based Solicitation Outreach Partners: • Geothermal Resources Council • National Conference of State Legislatures • Oregon Institute of Technology • Resolve • University of NV, Reno
