  2. GSM/GPRS GPS Device This is the main GPS unit and is the heart of the vehicle mounted system. This GPS collects the GPS coordinates of the vehicle and passes data to our server via GPRS (Cellular communication). This GPS also passes data from our server to the Garmin GPS if the Garmin is installed. The data is passed from our server to the customer server.

  3. GSM enabled SIM Smart Card This type of SIM Smart Card is inserted into the main GPS unit. After that the GPS unit is Programmed. The data from the GPS device will be passed through the ISP to the Global One Fleet server at the DBS Offices. The GPS unit uses the GSM band with the GPRS protocol.

  4. Garmin GPS This is the Garmin GPS unit. This GPS displays information from the customer dispatch board. This GPS can also send information such as SMS messages back to the dispatcher. The normal function of the Garmin GPS is to receive a service call from the dispatch board and map a route from the current location to the call. After the call is complete the technician can send a message from the Garmin that the call is complete. The Technician is also about to sent other messages.

  5. GPS & GSM Antenna This antenna is designed to be attached to the inside of the Windshield. The top or the bottom left corner is recommended. The word BOTTOM should always face away from the sky/windshield. Never remove the double sided tape for any reason, the antenna will probably be destroyed in the process. Antenna mounted in lower left corner of windshield.

  6. Wiring DiagramWiring Diagram for all vehicles with Garmin Wiring Diagram with Garmin option. We recommend that installation of fuses as shown.

  7. All GPS hardware should be fused. The Fuse Taps above are recommended as an easy solution to adding a fuse directly at the fuse box of the vehicle. This required no cutting or splicing of the vehicle wiring and will provide an additional low amperage fuse for the GPS device. We recommend the Bussmann BP/HHH or BP/HHA fuse taps.   8. Recommendations • Notes: • It is recommended that all fuses be used as shown. • This is a general reference as to how the unit should be wired to allow for proper function of the software. The wiring can be routed in any manner that is safe and will provide the correct power and function to the unit. • GSM/GPS Antenna should be mounted at the top edge on the inside of the windshield for best reception.

  9. Terminology ISP - Short for Internet Service Provider, a company that provides access to the Internet. For a monthly fee, the service provider gives you a software package, username, password and access phone number. Equipped with a modem, you can then log on to the Internet and browse the World Wide Web and USENET, and send and receive e-mail. In addition to serving individuals, ISPs also serve large companies, providing a direct connection from the company's networks to the Internet. ISPs themselves are connected to one another through NetworkAccess Points (NAPs). ISPs are also called IAPs (Internet Access Providers). SIM - A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a smart card inside of a GSMcellular phone that encrypts voice and data transmissions and stores data about the specific user so that the user can be identified and authenticated to the network supplying the phone service. The SIM also stores data such as personal phone settings specific to the user and phone numbers. A SIM can be moved from one phone to another and/or different SIMs can be inserted into any GSM phone. For example, if a user has one phone but uses it for both personal and business calls, he can change the SIM depending on how he will be using the phone (one card contains his personal identity and data and the second card carries his business identity and data). A SIM also is referred to as a SIM card.
