  1. The Jyväskylä General Upper Secondary Schools form a unit consisting of six upper secondary schools: Cygnaeus Upper Secondary School, Jyväskylä Upper Secondary School for Adults, Jyväskylän Lyseo Upper Secondary School, SeppäUpper Secondary School, Seppä Upper Secondary School Tikkakoski unit, and Voionmaa Upper Secondary School. The Jyväskylä General Upper Secondary Schools are part of the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium.

  3. General Upper Secondary Education in Finland General upper secondary education continues the teaching and educational tasks of basic education to students aged about 16–19. The general upper secondary school ends in the matriculation examination, which yields eligibility for all higher education studies. In Finland, about half of the students continue their studies in general upper secondary schools after completing compulsory basic education.

Jyväskylä General Upper Secondary Schools, Key Indicators in 2014 • The Jyväskylä General Upper Secondary Schools belong to the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium as one of its seven profit centres • The consortium structure brings benefits: shared teachers and premises • The Upper Secondary School Unit has an Administrative Board and an Executive Group of its own • Number of upper secondary schools: 5 • Total number of students: 2 800 • Number of personnel: 181 • Annual turnover: EUR 16 million

Working for the Students • All Jyväskylä upper secondary schools are non-graded: the students are able to complete the education at their own pace • The students can combine courses from all upper secondary schools in Jyväskylä. • Cooperation between upper secondary schools and vocational education: • - Dual qualification • - Triple qualification (upper secondary school syllabus, matriculation examination, vocational upper secondary qualification) • - Exchange periods • - Individual courses • Goal: versatile and individual learning pathsfor the students
