  • 2010: Green Key available for International Hotel Chains.
  • 2010: 21 countries involved in the Green Key Programme.

Green Key Philosophy

The Green Key, as other FEE programmes, aims at Environmental education:

By rewarding tourism facilities, it decreases environmental impact of each overnight stay.

It also contributes to train managers and staff to sustainable management.

Lastly, and it is the largest target, the tourists are provided with environmental information.

  • Establish a National Green Key Jury or Steering Committee and management procedures
  • Organisation of a Green Key workshop
  • Production of a set of national criteria based on the international criteria
  • Approval national criteria by ISC Green Key
  • Green Key pilot phase for selected tourism accommodations
  • Full implementation of Green Key

  • In countries where is no Green Key Program started by the national FEE member
  • The international hotel chain can sent in application to the international coordination of Green Key
  • Hotels of the chain must meet the international base line criteria
  • Audits under responsibility of the international coordination

  • Compensation tool provided by FEE
  • Concerns CO2 emissions from flight travels
  • Funds are distributed to projects involving children in tree planting activities
