Introduction • Changes at the Council of Europe. • Library and Archives joins Department of Information Technology • Mission: • Information management along the “Information life cycle”[1] (better exploitation of existing solutions, identification of new solutions, establishment of a regulatory structure, corresponding collection policies and workflows, tools provision, training…). • Implementation of the Council of Europe Archiving Policy, management and preservation of the institutional information heritage. Capacity building to preserve and make available the knowledge assets of long-term value preferably in digital form in a reliable and readily available authorised source. • Supporting institutional entities in correct record and files management and archiving. Reduce the duplication of efforts in this sector. • Transparent access provision to institutional information (both on line and in person, to authorised users). • Supporting internal user autonomy in information retrieval and acquisition of information especially those in electronic format. • [1]Creation/Acquisition - Cataloguing/Identification – Storage and Preservation – Access – Elimination/Reuse for creation • What does it mean for EINIRAS? • Better support for EDN • Easier access to new IT tools • Invitation to Strasbourg
