The process of IVF treatment afflicts about 1.3 women with depression and anxiety which leads to intervention in the process of treatment. The present study has been conducted to determine the effect of relaxation on anxiety and the result of IVF method in the patients with infertility who have been referred to the selected infertility centers of the Tehran University of medical sciences during 2012-2013 mean score of anxiety in two case and control groups before relaxation was 163.24 and 165.48, respectively. The T test did not show a significant statistical difference between two groups (p>0.05). After the relaxation, the mean score of the anxiety in two groups changed as 148.38 and 156.18, respectively, and the t test showed a significant statistical difference between two groups after the relaxation (p<0.05). Also, the results of the covariance analysis showed a significant statistical difference between two groups in terms of anxiety reduction in the case group, While the number of positive results of pregnancy test was 20 cases in the control group and was 19 cases in the experimental group. The number of negative results of pregnancy test was 30 cases in the control group and 31 ones in the experimental group. The results of chi square test did not show a significant difference between two groups in relation to the positive results of pregnancy tests (p>0.05). Due to the result of the present study, the relaxation process has been effective in reducing the related patients’ anxiety. So that it has reduced considerably the anxiety of the case group, but it does not have a significant role in the success of IVF method Methods This experimental study is a clinical trial that has been carried out on 100 infertile women between 25-35 years of old who was under IVF treatment in the hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of medical sciences during 2012-2013. The sampling method was the convenience method and the data was collected by using the Newton infertility anxiety questionnaire before and after relaxation in two case and control groups. The data has been analyzed by the descriptive statistics, T test and covariance analysis at a significance level of p<0.05 References
