  2. What is hunger? • Hunger is the physical sensation of desiring food. • Lots of people in the world are feeling this sensation.

  3. World hunger facts • The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 million people in the world are suffering from chronic undernourishment.

  4. World hunger for children • Children are the most visible victims of undernutrition. Children who are poor suffer up to 160 days of illness each year.

  5. Does the world produce enough food to feed everyone? • The world produces enough food to feed everyone. The principal problem is that many people in the world do not have sufficient land to grow, or income to purchase, enough food.
