INTERJECTIONS. English book pg 192-193. What is an interjection?. An interjection is a word or words that show feeling or emotion. If the interjection shows strong feeling, it stands alone and is followed by an exclamation point. Wow! The boat is big! Good grief! The sails are huge!

What is an interjection? • An interjection is a word or words that show feeling or emotion. • If the interjection shows strong feeling, it stands alone and is followed by an exclamation point. • Wow! The boat is big! Good grief! The sails are huge! • If the interjection shows mild feeling, it begins the sentence and is followed by a comma. • Ah,the breeze is nice. Well, let’s go sailing!

  3. Common Interjections • Oh, no • Oops • Ouch • Well • Whew • Wow • Hurray • Good grief • Okay • Hey • Ah • Oh

  4. What is the interjection in each sentence? • Hey, this boat needs a few repairs. • Good grief! Can we repair it in time for the race? • Oh, I hope so! • Whew! Someone remembered to bring the sewing box. • Ouch! That needle is sharp! • Hurray! The sail is as good as new! • Oh, no! Here’s another rip we missed!

  5. Add the Punctuation after each interjection. • Ah there’s nothing like a windy day for a race! • Well let’s get everything ready. • Oh, no The race begins in an hour! • Hurray the jackets are in the boat! • Okay Now we don’t have to go back. • Hey it’s getting windier.
