Measurement Tools

Name: Triple Beam Balance

Measurement: Determine the mass

Units: grams (g)

*Important Reminder!
• A triple beam balance has three separate lines (it’s like adding three rulers together)-you must ADD each of the lines together!
Scientific Names

I. Scientific names are given to species so that all scientists can communicate.

a. It has two words: a genus name and a species name

b. The first letter of the genus name is capitalized, and the species is lowercase.

c. If you’re typing, you write the scientific name in italics

d. Your scientific name is Homo sapiens.
