  3. Being nice to friends • What are ways that you help out your friends? • How do you show you care?

  4. You may . . . • give compliments • talk to each other • help each other understand homework • do fun things together

  5. You may . . . • have conversations • eat together • support each other if you are having a rough day.

  6. How to be nice to everyone: Staff members or other students (even if you are not BFF!)

  7. You may . . . • give compliments • say “hi” • help them understand schoolwork • give encouragement (“You can do it!” )

  8. You may . . . • talk respectfully • offer support or help

  9. Scenario #1 You see a student who is walking down the busy hall between class. Her pencil case and books accidentally slip out of her hands and fall on the floor. Discuss possible actions and reactions.

  10. Scenario #2 You see a student who is having trouble opening his locker. He is frustrated because he thinks he is late to class. Discuss possible actions and reactions.

  11. Scenario #3 You see your teacher who is trying to hand out class worksheets while students are coming up to ask questions and the phone is ringing. Discuss possible actions and reactions.

  12. Scenario #4 You see several pieces of paper on the floor as you are leaving your classroom. Discuss possible actions and reactions. Who could you be helping?

  14. Time to Discuss • What did you see? • Discuss how each turtle felt at the beginning, during, and end of event.

  15. Time to Discuss • Are they friends? • Have you ever been the “flipped” turtle? • Have you ever been the “helping” turtle?

  16. Time to Discuss • Do you think they continue walking together or apart? • Why?

  17. Be Nice & Help Each Other Out! TO SHOW RESPECT AND SET HIGH STANDARDS!
