This study examines the genetic diversity of coelacanths through the analysis of COII sequences. The data includes 95 sequences from various populations. Key findings reveal a high level of genetic variability with an average of 81 substitutions per site. The analysis further identifies significant differences between populations in the Northwest region and Eastern Africa. Outgroup comparisons highlight unique genetic signatures in COII sequences, with implications for evolutionary relationships and conservation efforts. Overall, the research sheds light on the evolutionary history and population structure of coelacanths.
