Coordination at all levels Key role in Supporting Inter-cluster coordination Addresses coordination needs at all levels (national, regional, provincial): • Supports setting up clusters • Establishes appropriate inter-cluster forum and processes • Supports HC with cross-cluster strategicplanning and assessments (CHAP; CAP etc.) • Advocates for mainstreaming of cross-cuttingissues • Liaises with government, NSAs, military, DPKO, & other actors • Supports contingency planning and preparedness activities

  4. Inter-Cluster Coordination & Your Role An established forum for coordination between sectors with defined membership and TOR • But it doesn't have to only be at meetings • Look up from time to time • Know expectations people have • Advocate to be included when appropriate

When need be, advocate strongly to lead agency and HC support and engagement What are effective ways to do that? • Document your evidence and asks • Encourage everyone on sub-cluster to speak to the message • Where possible, government can also ask • Take it up a level to: CPWG/HQ/PCWG/ER Coordinator

  6. Effectiveness comes from • Having clear reasonable requests & usable materials • Being clear and consistent on CP’s importance • Being clear about their responsibility to protect • Being personable, ready for give and take

  7. Buttonhole that Coordinator • WASH • Education • Early Recovery • Camp Management Discuss areas of overlap with Child Protection that you would need to agree on and/or coordinate and areas where working together provides value added.

  8. Protection Cluster Coordination Many ways to work together: • Integrated protection assessment, strategies, TORs and work plans • Common advocacy • Child-friendly protection programming • Ensuring monitoring and reporting mechanisms complement each other
