  2. OHC Forecast for 15 August 2011 OpenDAP Example(Upper Ocean Heat Content (OHC)) • MATLAB Script (< 100 code lines) • Generates a string to query the THREDDS Server hosted by the NGI EDAC (Ecosystem Data Assembly Center) ( www.northerngulfinstitute.org/edac/ ) • In this case, forecast temperature fields (0 - 200 m) are extracted (~23 levels) • OHC then calculated based on 26° C isotherm • Operation to produce OHC graphic shown takes < 5 minutes • AMSEAS Forecasts consist of 4-day, 3-hourly output (484 MB for each uncompressed netcdf file, or 15.5 GB per forecast) • Potential applications • Generation of animations • Automated retrieval (scripting) and posting latest forecast figure on NG-CHC Website or elsewhere for Community Access USM OHC Team: Wiggert & Woodard See Woodard and Wiggert poster: “Forecasting Upper Ocean Heat Content using output from the AMSEAS Gulf of Mexico/Caribbean Regional Forecast System” NG-CHC Fall Retreat, 25-26 October 2012
