Benefits of PACAF Solution • Minimal client hardware requirements • Processing takes place on high end web server • Computer capable of running modern web browser • Internet connection (minimum of 56K ) • Out-of-the-box functionality • Implements significantly more functionality than the client product shipped with ArcIMS • Add, label, measure, print, extract, identify, query, select, etc. • Easy to deploy and change multiple applications • Created on a documented Java API framework • Foundation for new applications exists in the underlying Java Object Model and Java Sever Pages – not starting from scratch • Advanced set of GIS tools and capabilities that can easily be added to applications • Training accomplished in a matter of hours rather than days • Shorter delivery schedules • Reduces development costs • Significant boost in performance

Web Based Editing Extension • There were too many errors in attribute data when updates were being made to the database • Data for updates passed through several people • Interpretations were made by database administrators rather than subject matter experts • There was a lack of ownership for data quality and accuracy • Solution – Developed an extension to the PACAF Enterprise Application • A simple interface allows users to use an online form to update data on features • Updates are done by subject matter experts • Updates are done directly on the database via the web • Updates are posted to the database as soon as the session is saved • Benefits • There is a better sense of ownership • Quality and accuracy of data has improved • Solution was developed, installed and training completed at 10 PACAF sites in 9 months of non-continuous effort • Virtually off-the-shelf solution for performing simple to moderate web-based editing
