Power Supply Assessment • Beginning PSA work - target mid-August • New Issues this year • Conversion to using Promod instead of SAM • Will allow better internal coordination of data and analysis • More demanding data requirements may imply fewer or different scenarios than past (temp, etc) • More, but potentially conflicting, data on wind & solar capacity contribution (also VGS issue) • NREL meso-scale data • Individual utility experience

  4. Probabilistic Adequacy Methods • NERC Generation and Transmission Reliability Planning Models TF (GTRPMTF) • Developing proposal for probabilistic planning and metrics to be associated with LTRA – present June PC meeting, adopt September PC meeting • Some opportunity to comment • Not clear how much of a burden this will be • Not clear when would be required – earlier draft suggested 2012 LRTA • RPIC interested also – deferring to NERC effort

  5. LRS Charter • Purpose – advise WECC Board on resource adequacy in Western interconnection • Responsibilities • Oversight of WECC loads and resources reports • Address resource adequacy activities at NERC • Investigation of resource adequacy issues • Primary WECC entity disseminating L&R information to interested parties in West • Work with regulators, BAs and LSEs to promote access to reliable data on resource adequacy
