  3. Background • Goal: Make education more responsive to business workforce needs • Key Question: What would positively impact the motivation and the system’s ability to achieve that result?

  4. Topics/Opportunities Enhance industry relevance/ involvement (at all levels) Get more industry representatives to the table Make the initiatives industry specific

  5. Topics/Opportunities (cont.) Agree upon a uniform measure of core competency necessary for workplace success (industry specific) Demonstrate that educational outcomes needed by industry are accomplished Publicize consistent standards for employment (industry specific)

  6. Recommendations • Establish and Publish “Education Transparency” Metrics • Graduate Employment & Wage results • By degree & by educational institution

  7. Recommendations • Create Annual Industry/Education Partnership Event • Establish cycle/schedule for business and education to engage with each other • Event breakout sessions focused on specific industry sectors • Opportunity to have industry communicate workforce/skill needs to training providers

  8. Recommendations • Improve industry sector advisory committees • Require standardized approach and guidelines • Assure best practices for meaningful industry participation & influence in setting curriculum
