  3. Overview • Walk through the pages available in Faculty Center as a faculty person or advisor • Tasks before term begins • Beginning of term tasks • End of term tasks • Other functionality

  4. Who Uses Faculty Center? • Anyone assigned as an instructor in M-Pathways will have access to Class Rosters, Class Schedules, & Weekly Schedules. • Instructors set up on a graded section can use Grade Rosters* and the Assign Proxy page. • Instructors can grant an assistant access to view class rosters or enter grades. • Access to view Academic Advisee information is granted through a standard access request process. * Instructor must also be hired as a University employee to enter grades.

  6. Meet The Instructor • Janette Instructor is an instructor in the History department. • She is teaching two History courses in both Fall 2008 and Winter 2009 terms. • Janette has an assistant, Joe, who will be helping her this semester. • Janette also has academic advisor responsibilities.

  7. View My Teaching Schedule • Provides instructors with a printable list of classes • Link to the CTools site, if one exists • Class Search • Browse Course Catalog

  8. View My Weekly Schedule • Provides a schedule of classes in a calendar format • Calendar can be changed to show particular days of the week or times of day

  9. Before Term Begins Add Textbooks and Other Materials (New!) • These tools promote early textbook entry to provide cost savings for students. • Enter class textbooks and other materials, if required • Enter course pack and notes to students, if needed • See the Registrar’s Office website for textbook ordering schedule: http://www.umich.edu/~regoff/calendar/

  10. Beginning of Term • Janette wants to know who is enrolled in her class. • Janette will view both the class and photo rosters. • Janette can also manage waitlists. • She also will assign her GSI Joe as a proxy to assist with grade entry.

  11. Class Roster Functionality • Allows instructors to view a real time list of enrolled and waitlisted students • List can be customized • Can view all students for a cross-listed class in one list • E-mail functionality • Export to Excel

  12. Assign Proxy • Instructors can assign a GSI or other assistant to be a proxy • View Class Rosters • Enter, approve, and/or change grades on Grade Rosters

  13. End of Term • Janette must submit final grades for her classes. • Janette needs to submit a grade change for a grade already submitted. • Janette wants to see how her students evaluated her teaching.

  14. Record Grades • Grades can be entered individually. • A file of grades can be uploaded. • An email is sent to authorized grader when grades are ready to review and approve. • Grades are posted to the students’ records within an hour during the grading period.

  15. Submit Grade Changes • In order to change grades, you must have APPROVE grade roster or Change Grade proxy access and grade rosters must be posted. • Each School/College has their own grade change rules encoded and has determined if certain grade changes need to be reviewed before final processing can be completed.
