For example, fertility, ability to reproduce and financial stability Buss’ aims was to see if consistency was found in the preferences of characteristics and traits in various cultures. Procedures 37 samples form 33 countries. 10047 people altogether. Western and non-western, rural and urban dwellers. Questionnaire 1 Ranked 18 characteristics on a 4 point scale Questionnaire 2 Rated 13 characteristics Findings and Conclusions In 36/37 samples (97%) females valued financial prospects higher than industriousness and finance more than males In all samples, men wanted younger, better looking women In 23/37 samples men preferred chastity Supports evolutionary theory Suggests that there is cultural influence
