  1. Search for Chargino and Neutralino in the low pT eμ channel-- STATUS -- Melisa Rossi Udine University September 18, 2006 SUSY Meeting

  2. So Far... • Last update at SUSY Meeting in Feb 2006 • Spring: dedicated to my Ph.D. Thesis • Summer: the group decided to start processing the new data • Adapt 6.1.4 NT code to SL3 • About 90% of edil0h data done • About half of sexoat NT done • New bbbar done by Giovanni to be ntuplized SUSY Meeting

  3. Data and MC • Data • SUSY dilepton dataset edil0d • Good run list v7 no silicon (~310pb-1), CEM4_CMUP4 trigger • MC • Signal point (m0=100,m1/2=180,A0=0,tanβ=5,μ>0)~360fb-1 • DY sexo9t (Z ll, Mll>5GeV/c2)~5fb-1 • ttbar (ttopel)~170fb-1 • WW (wtop1w)~34fb-1 • ZZ (Oscar)~535fb-1 • WZ (Madgraph)~430fb-1 • bbbar (Giovanni)~150pb-1 (last time was ~50pb-1) • Fakes • using CEM8 and CMUP8 inclusive samples • Lepton+fake selection requiring events with • real first lepton (CEM8 for eμ and CMUP8 for μe) • fake lepton using Liverpool method SUSY Meeting

  4. Event Selection • Events with 1 electron and 1 muon • Leading lepton pT>10 GeV/c • Next-to-leading lepton pT>5 GeV/c • High pT (>20GeV/c) CEM and CMUP selection • Standard top/ewk definition • 4-20GeV/c pT range • Muon ID as in CDF 7197 (Purdue) • Electron ID as high pT SUSY Meeting

  5. MET ?? SIGNAL REGION if 3 leptons 15 10 < 2 > 1 Number of Jets 15 76 106 M() Control Regions (CR) • CR in terms of • missing ET (high, low) • Njet(high, low) • number of leptons • 2 lepton selection • 3 lepton selection • separating events between • like sign (LS) and opposite sign (OS) charge • Additional high statistics CR to test lepton selection • ee and μμ events • full invariant mass spectrum • Z window mass SUSY Meeting

  6. Control Regions (eμ) OS LS 2 lepton selection MET ?? 15 10 < 2 > 1 Number of Jets SUSY Meeting

  7. Control Regions (eμ) OS 2 lepton selection MET ?? 15 10 LS < 2 > 1 Number of Jets SUSY Meeting

  8. Control Regions – Summary SUSY Meeting

  9. whole eμ selection • Possible fakes underestimation in the low missing transverse energy • Looked into ee and μμ events separating OS and LS OS LS SUSY Meeting

  10. 15 76 106 M() Control Regions (ee, μμ) OS ee OS μμ SUSY Meeting

  11. 15 76 106 M() Control Regions (ee, μμ) LS ee LS μμ SUSY Meeting

  12. Conclusions • After Ph.D. and data processing I am back into the analysis.... • Need to finish to understand fakes • similar problem into ee and μμ events • Ahead with new data NT • want to check if the fake problem is also there • Plan • Still want to bless the first part of data this Fall • Meanwhile looking at the new data • Need also to move 533 code to 534gcc1 by end of September • I am coming to Fnal first 2 weeks of October!
