IOA Guideline 5 • The national and regional championships (and other designated ‘major events’) have two aims: • (A) to find the champion in each class • (B) to provide high standard competition for all members of the IOA • Where these aims conflict, the first shall take priority • Key planning focus: Winning time of champions
Issues to be resolved • Do we need detailed Guidelines for Short and B courses? • Should Short and B classes be of the same technical standard as the main ones? • Do we introduce M & W 20 Elite courses? (And M&W 18 Elite?) • Can we do away with the present Guideline that requires an exclusive course for W21E • Do we set course standards by external standards or do we tailor them for Irish competitors? • What are the appropriate class combinations? • What are the appropriate winning times, technical, and physical standards for each class?
