Benefits: • Greater student engagement and involvement • Increase student independence • Teach file management skills in context • Easy to take work home and back • Provides easy ways to link items • Greater opportunity to address learning styles, especially visual learners • Students who might not shine in other ways become the specialists

  3. Uses, Literacy: • Demonstrations • Shared reading • Word • SMART notebook • Building wordsactivities • Shared writing, patterns • Reading response, storyfollow-up, graphic organizers • Editing • Brainstorming with “moveability” • Inspiration 1, 2 • Wordle.com

  4. Math • Calendar • Numeracy • Problems, and more problem solving • Pictures – number • Estimation

  5. Uses, other subject areas • Thematic files, social studies • Reduces need for charts and allows greater options • Show video clips, stories using links such as Tumble Books, movies • Agendas/organizers

  6. View/share completed projects. • Photo storiesmessages • Power points • Presentations • Games Jeopardy • Practice

  7. Convenience • With a mounted data projector no one can sign it out before you. • Allows for more spontaneous times…adjusting to needs of learners • Lots of on-line resources.

How-to's for smoother sailing • Develop a filing system that works for you. • Place shortcuts on your desktop that link you quickly to commonly used files or folders. • Begin with Scanned worksheets or use already existing computer files to use in manner similar to overhead projector. • Play with SMART Notebook until you feel comfortable with its features.

  9. Physical Safety • Mounted data projector means no cords to trip over. • Less wear and tear on mobile units.
