Project Description • Community of Sandpoint (SURA) wants to establish local industry for raising high value vegetable crops in greenhouses, e.g. tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers. • Project will look at greenhouse construction options and costs (Phase 1), vegetable production options and costs (Phase 2), and conduct a market assessment for project support (Phase 3). • Phase 1 is pertinent to this class
Project needs • Through client contact (SURA) and research with plant scientists, determine production needs and suitable crops for the greenhouse concept • Report to client on facility suitable for Sandpoint • Design of greenhouse structure • Weather conditions (snow loading, daylight length, temperature variation) • Building construction design (materials, structural calcs) • Life expectancy and maintenance costs • Cost
