CONCORDANT • using one typestyle for the entire composition • if you are using a single font, consider using a variety of widths and weights to provide some visual variety within the uniformity
Constrasting • using two extremely different font styles with a composition • Contrast is key; a highly decorative letterform works well with a neutral one; • a heavy sans serif pairs nicely with a thin serif • FYI….when designing with fonts, limiting the number is ideal. Too many fonts can distract from the content rather than support it
Conflicting (a big no, no!) • Using similar but not the same font style is NOT recommended since it does not provide enough contrast within the composition nor will help with unifying the overall look. • It will look like a mistake has been made by the designer.
