  6. Discipline Procedure • Discipline will be marked in Homework Folder • Warning • 5 minutes loss of recess • 10 minutes loss of recess • No recess • Out of classroom (Office)

  7. Homework Expectations • Homework Agenda /Folder • Nightly Reading (30 minutes) • Night Writes: Tues/Thurs • Math: Mon/Wed

  8. Tuesday Folders • Sent home every Tuesday • Require parent/guardian signature • Signature means you have seen all grades/information in the folder. (Please remove all paperwork prior to returning folder except data documentation.)

  9. Data in Homework Folder Students will be reviewing their Reading and Math common assessments in order to graph their progress and mastery of skills taught according to the TEKS. This information will help you and your child keep track of their academic strengths and areas of improvement.

  10. Grading Policy • A: 90 – 100 • B: 80 – 89 • C: 70 – 79 • Below 70: Not passing • Progress Reports

  11. Reading Requirements • 55 minutes daily (at school, 30 min. at Home) • Must have book every morning • Accelerated Reader books • (meet goal per 9wks)

  12. Writing • Learn the 6 traits of Writing: Ideas Organization Voice Word choice Revising Editing • Grammar • Journal Writing • Reading/Writing Workshop • Revising and Editing practices

  13. MATH Computation • 90 minutes daily • Problem of the day Timed test weekly starting in the Fall *Please practice basic facts nightly

  14. Science • Spend 3 weeks per cycle • Review sheet and test • Journals, investigations, etc. • Check the newsletter for current science units of study

  15. Social Studies • Focus is on Texas History • Spend 1 week per cycle • Review sheet and test • Journals, videos, projects • Check the newsletter for current units of study

  16. Classroom Needs • Volunteers/ Homeroom Parent • Supplies (if we are running low!) • Hand sanitizer (alcohol-free), COLORED PENCILS and GLUE STICKS, Sticky Notes, Tissues

  19. Library Nights • Every Tuesday • Starts Oct. 7th from 5:00-7:00 PM. • Students and parents can check out extra books (up to 5 each), use the computers, that AR tests, and get tutoring with homework. • Book Fair Sept 30th –Oct.3rd
