  3. What are PROWORDS? • PROWORDS are PROcedural WORDS. • We use these words to convey a very exact meaning in a very short way. • PROWORDS are concise • PROWORDS are clear • PROWORDS make it possible for mariners to have important conversations quickly and easily

  4. SMCP? • Standard Maritime Communication Phrases (SMCP) is IMO based system of simplified English for mariners • Very similar to our course • Instead of PROWORDS, they have “Marker Words” • Marker Words and PROWORDS serve thesame purpose
