  9. Fully Funded! Open Courses • In response to the need to send just one or two staff members on training, HCPA will be asking Approved Training Providers to put on a number of open courses this especially helps to meet the needs of smaller care providers who cannot fill a course themselves. • These will be put on to cover areas of identified need such as supervision, dementia and autism. • Fully Funded Open courses will start in July • See Fully Funded Open Courses on the hcpa website www.hcpa.info • Note: it should be noted that non funded open courses are also advertised on the HCPA website - see Open Courses

  10. Activities Project • We will no longer be  providing raising awareness training but will be helping Activity Coordinators to become the ‘expert in their field’ within their own organisations.

  11. Fully Funded! New Projects around activities • There is going to be an opportunity for learners to gain a NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Activity Provision in Social Care (QCF). • We will be creating Activity Leaders by introducing them to a year round programme of events that will enable them, as leaders, to motivate and stimulate both service users and staff teams by working with Ladder to the Moon. Application forms are available on the Ladder to the Moon stand in the exhibition area. • We will be running Mini Event Facilitated Programmes to enable activity helpers or care staff with Activities responsibilities to put on a highly motivational event. Application forms are available on the Ladder to the Moon stand. • We will be looking into the area of physical activity and how to introduce this with confidence by offering people to become key trainers – please give your details to the HCPA stand on the expression of interest form. • HCPA will facilitate ‘Newly Trained Ladder to the Moon Activity Leaders’ to form peer groups so that they can share best practice and  challenges as well as pass on knowledge to new untrained staff in all organisations.

  12. NOT Funded! Common Induction Standards • In line with National Drivers HCPA will not be allocating any money to Common Induction Standards (CIS) as there is a clear message from Government indicating that care providers must provide their own basic training and only cpd should be supported.

  13. Fully Funded! Learning Champion Project • To ensure that there is an extension to the numbers in the Learning Champions network, HCPA plans to train a further 24 Learning Champions in Level 3 Training Management. This will enhance the numbers of organisations who have a good understanding of how to support staff development and may help towards building internal capacity for training - as Learning Champions often choose to go on to take a PTLLS course and set up internal training that can then be funded.

  14. Fully Funded! Teambuilding Project • Once an organisation has a Learning Champion they can book ‘Building Better Teams’ courses to enable staff teams to understand each other and offer better service. • This course is an introductory course and can be used as a basis for coaching or supervision for on-going development of team dynamics. • Individuals will:- • leave with a clear outline of their own strengths and the way in which they are perceived by others • be able to recognize that not all people are the same and it is often easier to change your approach when dealing with others • be able to take forward the jigsaw approach using personality colours to discuss future challenges

  15. Fully Funded! PA Specific Inductions • Of Interest to Home Care Providers who want to become registered under HCPA’s Quality Assurance Scheme to provide ‘Personal Assistants’ to people with Direct Payments. • This year the only induction money will be spent on providing PA induction courses. These will include 4 day courses for brand new staff and 1 day conversion courses for care workers already providing home care.

  16. Fully Funded! Coaching Qualifications • HCPA will be running courses for people to undertake a Level 3 in coaching qualification. We are aware that this training is needed to support staff managing supervision in care. • The pilot in Sept will be run for Learning Champions. • Sign the expression of interest form on the hcpa stand

  17. Fully Funded! Mentoring for Organisations Employing Apprentices • This is building on from the important lessons learned in the hcpa apprentice project and will ensure that apprentices are fully supported in the workplace. This will be mapped to the QCF units in mentoring and hcpa may seek approval to run this as an accredited course.

  18. Fully Funded! Train the Trainer in PCP in Dignity into Care • To support the drive to engage more dignity into care, HCPA will be running a number of 1 day Train the Trainer days (these will be for internal trainers already holding PTLLS). • These courses will start in August • If you do not have PTLLS – this can be accessed for fully funded through HTDC • For Train the Trainer Person Centred Planning or PTLLS sign the expression of interest form on the HCPA stand.
