  1. Encouraging Conversations in a large diverse Radiography cohortHelen York, Ruth Emanuel and Selina Fowler

  2. Background • Idea was formed following a presentation at the 2012 Learning and Teaching Conference by Theo Gilbert • The Radiography Management for Imaging Modules has a diverse curriculum which warrants in depth discussions • There are 110 -120 students per cohort, with a diverse background

  3. Process • Students were asked to sit at long tables • Trigger images were given to the students and after 3 minutes of discussion students moved 2 spaces to their right enabling them to discuss with another group • After 3 rotations trigger questions were given after each rotation to give the groups new material to work with

  4. Process students recorded their thoughts on flip charts around the room to produce their own resource. Following the session students were asked for their feedback on what they felt about the process and also the content of the session

  5. Findings “I have talked to people I have never spoken to before” “It was great fun and very noisy” “It was easy to stay interested because we spoke to different people with different ideas” “The topic was interesting and we had lots to discuss” “I really enjoyed it. I’m sure the topic wouldn’t have been as much fun as a lecture” “The venue wasn’t really suitable it was too noisy”
