    3. Enfield’s Compact Sets out principles for working together Police (along with Council and PCT) were among the founder members Organised by a Compact Review Board

    4. What does the Compact mean? Ensures that the VCS is involved Sorts out disagreements through mediation and conflict resolution Makes everyone act responsibly Makes communication and consultation better Makes funding easier to understand

    5. What does the Compact do? Annual conference Annual report Regular newsletter Publicity leaflets Currently reviewing Compact in light of national developments Communication guide for agencies dealing with the VCS Training on partnership working

    6. Faith and belief in Enfield Most common faith or religion is Christian (63.2%) 9% of our population are Muslim One in eight people say that they have no faith or belief

Faith Forum history Enfield Police appointed a Faith Officer Made links with faith leaders Developed into the Faith Forum Works together to promote peace, mutual understanding and respect To be a forum for consultation and discussion between the police, fire service, council, faith communities, and others

    10. Lessons learned Never rely on a single method of engagement Relationships take time to build Need for champions Always aim for solutions Avoid blaming people Encourage communities to work with, not against, each other Journey, not a destination – a continuous process that never ends
