  1. Pull the tape across the river • Use cross-section stakes to tighten the tape • Determine the water width (W) and Wi = W/20

  2. Read the tape at LEW • Smile a lot

  3. Set rod at ½ Wi from LEW • Measure depth • Careful of length units on probe • Careful of the bow wave Don’t read depth here… Do read depth here…

  4. What’s he doing!!?? That’s only 59% depth… • Set rod at 60% depth • Push both black buttons at once • Wait 30-45 seconds • Careful of where you stand

  5. Bite the bottom lip • Read the bottom number • Divide V by 10 for m/s

  6. Take good notes Calculate as you go Ai = di*(Xafter – Xbefore)/2 Qi = Ai*Vi Q = SQi Keep one heel up!
