Pathways to Teaching Mathematics in the Middle School • Add-on to existing Multiple Subject Teaching Credential • Subject Matter Authorization: 32 units college level math • Single Subject Credential in Foundational Mathematics (SSFM): CSET I & II, secondary math methods course • Obtain new Single Subject Teaching Credential • SSFM: CSET I & II (in addition to all other credential requirements) • Full credential: CSET I, II, & III (in addition to all other credential requirements)

  3. Specialized Content Courses for Teachers–Benefits • Provides alternative sequence for 32 units needed for Subject Matter Authorization • Includes content needed for CSET exams • Explores content in ways appropriate for teaching secondary mathematics (e.g., focus on concepts) • Models/examines some teaching strategies for middle school mathematics (e.g., integrate technology and cooperative projects)
