  2. SLOVENIA Slovenia is situated in the southernmost part of Central Europe. It borders to Italy in the West, to Austria in the North, to Hungary in the North-East and to Croatia in the East and South. The official language is Slovene; and Italian and Hungarian in some areas of mixed nationalities (minorities).

World known sights An extraordinaryfinding, more than 5000 yearsold(dated3360-3080 BC) according to thelatestresearch, wasfoundbySlovenearcheologistswhileresearchingtheremainsofthe pile dwellers in LubljanaMoor, nearby Vrhnika. Next to theremainsof a wheel, therewasalsoanaxisthatwasloosenedfromthewheel. Thewheelwasmadeofashtreeandtheaxiswasmadeofoak. According to theexperts, theybelonged to a prehistoricdouble-wheelcart.   13. Primary School Preserje A 9-yearprimaryschooling is enacted in Slovenia. Students start school at the age of 6. TheformalopeningofourPrimarySchool Preserje tookplace on 27th November 1981. Education in Preserje has a tradicionof 160 years. Classes are held in a modern schoolbuliding. The are alsotwosmallerbranchschools Jezero and Rakitna. Ourschoolareaincludesthevillages: Podpeč, Preserje, Jezero, Prevalje, Goričica, Gorenje,Dolenja Brezovica and Rakitna.

  14. Branch Schools Jezero and Rakitna Jezero (Lake) is a small village on the brinks of Ljubljana Moor. There is a hill Krim rising behind, in the South-West. The village is only 15 km from the capital city. There is the deepest lake of Slovenia lying just on the edge of the village. A green plateau, rich with pastures, fields, mountains, a lake and other natural beauties is Rakitna. A school with the same name is situated at the opening of the village.

  15. School History A school in Preserje was established in 1854 whereas 110 pupils started their one-class schooling. In 1921, a one-class school was established. Throughout decades, the school was subject to many school reforms, for example, establishment of a nine-grade primary school, common rebuilds of curriculum and the like. School and lake Jezero

  16. Position Preserje village lies at the bottom of the hill St. Joseph at the southernmost point of Lljubljana Moor. There is a beautiful chrurch St. Vid from 1711. Podpeč village has been known since the Roman Times-when the people used limestone for construction. Allegedly, the river Ljubljanica was moved a bit closer to Podpeč for easier transport to the town of Emona (Ljubljana). The village was known for burning limestone in the limestone stoves.
