  1. Plant Structures and Growth By:Nhiand Gabriella

  2. .The Plant Structure. The buds are at the tip of the stems. The root hairs are extensions of epidermal.

  3. The Tissue System Tissue System• protection• prevention of water loss EpidermisPeriderm Ground Tissue System• photosynthesis• food storage• regeneration •surpport• protection Parenchyma tissueCollenchyma tissueSclerenchyma tissue Vascular Tissue System• transport of water and minerals• transport of food Xylem tissuePhloem tissue

  4. Structure and Function With the Organ Systems • Organ system- Group of organs working together to carry out particular task. • It performs Intricate functions for the survival of a organism. • The organ system structure has at least two different kinds of tissues. • Plants can be divided into vegetative and reproductive.

  5. Leaf Structure Leaves Leaves promote photosynthesis and allow to control gas exchange and loss of water.

  6. Plant Growth Plant Growth is the increase of size of a plant. They grow rapidly. It determines on the environmental numbers of factors.

  7. Vocab To Know: • Dicotyledons (dicots)-group of flowering plants that seeds mainly have two embryonic leaves. • Apical meristem-tip of a plant shoot or root causing the shoot to increase the length. • Root cap-a section of tissue at the tip of a the root of a plant. • Zone of elongation- place in plants roots that recently produce cells grow and elongate to the differentiation. • Epidermis-outer layer of skin. • Root hairs-rhizoid of a vascular plant.

  8. Guard cells have chloroplasts and regulate gas exchange between the inside of the leaf and the surrounding air.

  9. Most epidermal cells lack chloroplasts. Epidermal cells- are of any cell making up epidermis. Acts as the body's main major barrier. The origin is the ectodermal.

  10. Primary Growth and the Location of Apical Meristems • Cell Elongation

  11. More VocabTo Know: • Seed coat-outer protection covering the seed. • Cortex- outer portion of the adrenal gland. • Root hairs- thick hair like outgrowth of epidermal cell. • Fibrous root system- mainly in grass. • Cuticle- outermost layer of skin in vertebrates. • Turgor (pressure)- pressure exerted on a plant’s guard cells to open. • Stomata(stoma)- pores within the leaves surrounded by guard cells. • Guard cells- One of the paired epidermal cells that control the opening and closing.
