  1. GANDHI JAYANTIHe is the man who played a significant role in achieving independence for India from the British Empire with his simplicity and strong will power.

  2. What is Gandhi Jayanti? Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of peace and the Father of the Nation was born on 2nd October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on the very day every year as the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of India.

  3. HISTORY

  4. CHILDHOOD Gandhi’s parents were Karamchand Gandhi and his fourth wife Putlibai. He was the youngest in the family.

  5. MARRIAGE At the age of 13 Gandhi married Kasturba, a girl the same age.

  6. STUDIES AND PROFESSION Gandhi studied law in London. Gandhi stayed in South Africa for 21 years working to secure rights for Indian people.

  7. GANDHI’S MISSION SATYAGRAH

  8. He developed a method of action based upon the principles of courage, nonviolence and truth called Satyagraha.

  9. Gandhi's Assassination On January 30, 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was shot dead by a young Hindu radical named NATHURAM GODSE.

  11. A prayer meeting is held at Rajghat, Gandhi's samadhi in New Delhi. Verses and prayers are read out from the holy books of all the religions. Gandhi's favourite song, Raghupati Raghava, is invariably sung at all the meetings associated with him.
