  1. EVANGELISM PT.5“The Increase of the Kingdom” INTRODUCTION (1.)Matthew 16:18 “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” God uses Peter/Us “FLAWED MATERIAL” to build a durable and “FLAWLESS” church.

  2. EVANGELISM PT.5“The Increase of the Kingdom” INTRODUCTION (2.)Acts 20:28 “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” -We may be flawed, but we still have value. *Christ purchased us with his own blood/his life! (3.)In Matthew 16:18, Christ calls Peter “Rock,” which is a symbol of strength. -Peter does not manifest strength until Acts 2, but Jesus calls him “Rock” in Matthew 16. *God can use flawed material because he calls us who we are before we become it.

  3. EVANGELISM PT.5“The Increase of the Kingdom” BODY (A.)VS.3-4 The Corinthian church was arguing over their favorite preacher/personality and the church was in envy, division, and strife. -The focus of the church is the Chief Shepherd; Not the under shepherd. *Kingdom Increase requires personalities to move! INTRODUCTION (4.)In Matthew 16:18, Jesus says to Peter that he’s building his church on “THIS ROCK.” -God just uses Peter in Acts 1-12 but CHRIST IS THE ROCK. *For the church to be stable and durable, it must be built on the principles of Christ; NOT the personality of the preacher.

  4. BODY (B.)VS.5 Paul says that he and Apollos are only ministers of the gospel by whom the Corinthians believed. -Minister= servant *Kingdom Increase requires for us to have a servant’s heart when we evangelize to others. (C.)VS.6 Paul says, “I planted and Apollos watered.” -Every time we evangelize we are planting seed or watering seed that has already been planted. -Paul who was formerly known as Saul, who persecuted the church, is now planting seeds of Christ. *Saul plants ONLY after his name has been changed. *People can’t receive the new seed of Christ we plant if we plant under our old name/lifestyle. EVANGELISM PT.5“The Increase of the Kingdom”

  5. BODY (D.)Why are Paul and Apollos so effective in sharing the gospel? (THEIR TESTIMONY) -Paul could testify because of what God brought him out of: self righteousness and persecuting the church. -Apollos could testify because of what God kept him from getting into: (Apollos had no recorded testimony). *Kingdom Increase requires us to share our testimony. CLOSE (1.)VS.6 After the seed is planted and watered, God gives the increase. -Work/evangelize like it’s up to me; Pray like it’s up to God for God to give increase/fruit to our labor. *God wants to use us to give the kingdom a raise (+ souls).
