  2. Introduction In the English class, we go to develop the subject "the media - television", for being an interesting and current subject. We go to approach the following sub-subjects: • History ; • The Inventor of the television; • The Evolution on the television; • Importance for the society (advantages and disadvantages); • Comparison of Portuguese channels with English; • More important channels; We launch a question now, to which we will go to answer in the end of our work: "It will be that the television is best the media?"

  3. History The first experiences with the emission of television in black color-and-white in Portugal had started in the year of 1949. However, the official inauguration of the television in Portugal would have its date marked for the month of September of 1956. The history of the television must it great mathematicians and physicists, pertaining to accurate sciences that had delivered for sciences human beings a great powerful e vehicle. The system PAL was adopted in our country. Currently is available the technology to make the codification, emission and reception of the signal of television under the digital form. The television has an important paper in the current society. It just expanded definitively in the decade of 50, with the multiplication of sales of TV. As propagate of information and instrument of entertainment, the television influences the life of the citizens, shapes the beliefs and the value to them. The informative dimension of the television in the current world cannot leave of being appreciated.

  6. The Evolution on the television? With the revolution of telecommunications, the possibilities of sending information to the world-wide scale had been multiplied. In Portugal, it gave to the first steps of black and white, 4th of September of 1956. The regular emitions were started in 7th of March of 1957. In that height, it only could be caught in Lisbon. At the next years RTP it would arrive at the Porto, to the Madeira and to Açores, and later it would cover the national territory. It is in 1977 that the Age of the soap operas is inaugurated. The television for handle appeared in Portugal in 1994 and allowed the appearance of more national and foreign televising channels, providing to the viewer a varied fan more of choices.

  8. Importance for the society? Nowadays, television-set is in almost every house, often even more than one. People spend a lot of time, watching tv programs. It has become a part of life for many people. It is hard to say is the television good or bad because there is many both advantages and disadvantages of it.

  9. ADVANTAGENS The television is a huge source of informations, knowledge and entertainment. There are plenty of channels with different topics. It provides every kind of information and entertainment: great films, shows, documentaries, science programs, cartoons and so on. You can watch the newest informations from all the world, it helps you to be up-to-date. Watching television can be also great way to spend a free time. There are some really interesting programs about for example our hobbies. It can by also good way to spend evening, watching curious films.

  10. DISADVENTAGENS It become to be very popular and common. Almost everyone has his own tv-set. People spend to much time watching stupid programs and shows. They become a slaves of 21' black box. You can't talk with them about anything isn't connected with television. Their life is depend on tv-schedule. The whole families watches television are having dinner, spending their free time in this way. Instead of going to the park, wood, to the lake or for a trip. Nowadays there is many violence on tv. The children are watching full of violence and brutality cartoons and movies. They spend whole day siting in front of tv.

  11. Comparison of Portuguese and English channels ? A BBC is “British Broadcasting Corporation”. The corporation produces programmes and information services, broadcasting on television, radio, and the Internet. The stated mission of the BBC is "to inform, educate and entertain“.

  12. RTP is “Radio and Television of Portugal” RTP 1 is a Portuguese television station of RTP network. It was the first television network to be founded in Portugal It's the first channel of Portuguese TV and one of the most watched networks in the country.   14. Conclusion We think that with this work, and this information, that television is one of the most important ways of communication, and a excellent entertainer. The question of the introduction, is all ready answered. So the television is the best media of all
