College Credit Options & AP • The deadline is beginning of September 19thfor SUNY Oswego, (students had to pre-register this summer) and October 30th for Adelphi SUNY OSWEGO – 3 credits – Sept. – June SPA 201 Adelphi– 3 credits Fall semester & 3 credits Spring semester AP Exam will be administered in May of their 12th grade year. College credit will depend on their exam score of 3, 4 or 5. All Colleges accept College credit differently, please look into the Colleges your child is thinking about attending. I have had students that have received both AP Credit and SUNY Oswego Credit and the Colleges accepted both.

COURSE GOALS By the end of this course, students will be able to: • Predict or make inferences by identifying and summarizing major ideas and important details • Synthesize the source and express opinion • Initiate, maintain and close a conversation • Create questions in order to clarify or obtain additional information • Communicate with proper semantics grammar • Recognize cultural elements • Demonstrate grammar control and good pronunciation in 2-3 minute oral presentations while describing, narrating and presenting information or persuasive arguments • Write a coherent and cohesive persuasive or analytical essay with good syntactical and grammatical control

GRADES • 15% Participation (usage of Spanish in class) and Journals • 85% Everything else (quizzes, journals, listening activities, speaking activities, reading activities, writing activities etc.) • SIS GRADEBOOK- you are able to see the grades online. • AP EXAM FEES will be collected in the bookstore starting in November.

  6. If a student is absent… • All missed work will be in the absent folder. • If they missed a quiz, there will be a green slip of paper in the absent folder telling them that they have 1 week to take it or receive a zero.

  7. PODCASTS • On my teacher webpage, I have some sites for the students to go to and listen to native speakers on a regular basis. • Please encourage them to do this 1-2 times a week. This is training their ears! • Timewarner CH 16 is good for them to listen to for 8-10 minutes at a time.

  8. EXTRA HELP • I am available on Weds & Thursdays from 2:10 – 3pm

  9. COSTA RICA • I’m organizing a trip to Costa Rica for the 2nd week of July, 2015. There is an informational meeting next Wednesday at the North Syracuse Public Library at 6:30pm. I hope to see you there!
