  1. ANCIENT ROMAN RELIGION And MYTHOLOGY

  2. WHAT IS ROMAN MYTHOLOGY? Roman mythology are groups of traditional roman stories based around the lives of all the roman gods. These stories were usually regarded as Historical narratives, not just stories that they would tell children. Even though the stories contained Paranormal events they were still usually concerned with politics and morality.

  3. ROMULUS AND REMUS Romulus and Remus are said to be the “founders” or “creators” of Rome or Roma which was the decided name that Romulus came up with because he decided to name the city after himself. The story of the two brothers is that they were abandoned at childhood. Their mother, Rhea conceived them by the God Mars or by the Demi-god, Hercules. Amulius, who wanted the children dead, took them and left them to die. The two boys were saved by miracle intervention, like a she-wolf who cared for them and them a couple who took them in and cared for them until adulthood. They then went on to be founders of the great city Rome.

  4. RELIGION AND MYTH Divine stories of miracle and supernatural occurrences made a more important impact on Greek religion than the Romans but still had quite a large impact on the Romans as well. Ancient Roman religion was centred around the idea of cult practices and beliefs. These ideas were what the Romans thought were a key part of their identity. Their temples were the visible, sacred, and enduring manifestations of Rome's history and institutions. Romans offered cult to many various Gods and Goddesses who influenced the way they live. Good relationships were kept between the mortals and the divine through good hearted sacrifices and offerings to the chosen god or gods of that cult.

  5. Roman Gods Jupiter/Zeus - Jupiter is the Roman version of Zeus from the Greek Pantheon. Jupiter is the king of the gods and sits on top on Mt Olympus. Jupiter gave Rome supremacy over other ancient civilisations because he was honoured by them the most through cult practices and sacrifices. Neptune/Poseidon – Neptune is the god of the water and the sea, he is similar but not identical to Poseidon of the Greek Pantheon. In Greek tradition, Poseidon was the brother of Jupiter and Pluto. Each of them presiding over one of the three realms Heaven, Earth and the Netherworld. Pluto/Hades – Pluto is the god of the underworld, Death or the Netherworld. The God was also known as Hades which could have also been the name for the underworld. He abducted Persephone to be his wife in the underworld, Persephone is the daughter of Zeus or Jupiter.
