Words and Definitions • Anomaly: irregular, unusual • Hackneyed: overly common, cliché • Provoke: to incite, to stir up • Mitigate: to lessen, to reduce • Mellifluous: sweet sounding • Cacophonous: harsh or discordant sound • Levity: lack of seriousness, frivolous • Austere: severe in manner, lack of humor
