  21. Risks (possible changes in schedule): IC trains From installation experience, first 2 sectors took ~ 20% longer But leak detection and electrical tests at the end can reserve bad surprises in the last sectors… PT PT PT PT PT PT Warm-up Warm-up PT Warm-up Warm-up PT Warm-up Warm-up -> 10K Warm-up CSCM preparation Splices + 20% CSCM Splices Warm-up + 20% Splices Splices Splices Splices Splices Splices Powering Tests Preparation for cool-down Splices Warm-up Cool-down Cool-down Cool-down Cool-down Powering Tests Cool-down Cool-down Powering Tests Powering Tests Powering Tests Cool-down Powering Tests Cool-down Powering Tests Cool-down Powering Tests Powering Tests K. 22. Risks (possible changes in schedule): R2E mitigation measures P1 & P5 are tight in schedule : Effect of 6 weeks delay No direct impact on end dates but will delay the powering tests of 3rd and following sectors. 23. Risk (possible changes in schedule): additional activities • Additional activities, especially those requiring supports from other groups can disorganize the global schedule, and induce delays. • CSCM tests in all sectors will cost around 4 weeks PT PT PT PT PT PT Warm-up Warm-up PT Warm-up Warm-up PT Warm-up Warm-up -> 10K Warm-up Cryo Maint. 24. Outline General frame Injectors LHC machine : Main activities and risks Organization Conclusion K. Foraz - LHC Performance Workshop 2012

  25. Organization Reiner : “QPS upgrade and machine protection during LS1 ” Miguel : “Vacuum upgrade” Laurent: “Cryogenics system: strategy to achieve nominal performance and reliable operation “ • Schedule & logistics • Lots’of work still to be done in matter of schedule & logistics for all the other activities w.r.t. skeleton schedule • Preparation • ECR have to be written prior to works • Modification of the envelope of your equipment  ICL • DIMR • Materials have to be ready in due time…..This has often induced delays !!! • Follow-up • Weekly coordination and scheduling meeting K. Foraz - LHC Performance Workshop 2012

  26. Conclusions • Analysis of requests well advanced (LHC & experiments, injectors) • w.r.t. priorities & resources & time & interaction between groups • New requests will be scrutinized, especially the support form overloaded groups (VSC, EL, CV) • “Skeleton” schedules for LHC machine & injectors ready • Workload is huge and the schedule is tight • Worksites have to be well prepared. Please do not forget layout, integration & safety K.
