  1. LHC Planning for MD #1 R. Assmann, F. Zimmermann, G. Papotti + input from 2 LSWG meetings + 1 LMC meeting 19.04.2011 MD Planning 2011/12

  2. Draft MD Planning Wed – Sat MD Planning 2011/12

  3. Draft MD Planning Sat – Mon MD Planning 2011/12

  4. MPP classes & MPP MD approval procedure MD Planning 2011/12 Class Abeing automatically approved (with safe beam), Class Bwith a quick approval tbd through rMPP (summary of Ralph/Frank/Giulia +discussion/approval) and Class C/Dwhere due to the potentially very high risks rMPP/MPP requests a detailed and formal description + approval of the MD through an EDMS document (containing the steps and responsibilities to establish and validate new beam conditions (eventually including orbit/optics changes), a detailed description of the steps during the MD + the steps and responsibilities to re-establish and validate nominal conditions after the MD. Classes B and C: please confirm max intensity needed for the MD @injection and 3.5TeV and eventually reconsider whether the MD could not be done with safe beam (please CC as well Jorg W., R.Schmidt and M.Zerlauth). The requestors of the two last MDs are (in case the currently requested max intensity is maintained) kindly requested to provide a draft version of the EDMS specification (ideally for the end of next week in order to circulate and approve before the document before the upcoming MD). [M. Zerlauth]

  5. LSWG Agenda today: Follow up of ACTIONs Short overviews of 1st LHC MDs [5-8 May]: -- Beam-beam MDs (W. Herr, 5'); -- Triplet BPM MD (T. Baer, 5'); -- Injection MDs (C. Bracco, 5'); -- RF single bunch instability MD (E. Shaposhnikova, 5'); -- Collision tunes at injection (G. Vanbavinckhove, 5'); -- BSRT/WS/BGI cross calibration (F. Roncarolo, 5'); -- Investigation on CODs (M. Solfaroli, 5'); -- ATS MD (S. Fartoukh, 5'); -- Collimator MDs (D. Wollmann, 5'); -- RF multi-bunch instability MD (P. Baudrenghien, 5'); -- Impedance MDs (N. Mounet, 5'); Plan for LMC on 20 April 2011

  6. Actions from the last meeting: • R. de Maria and S. Fartoukh: explain the operational procedure which is planned to be used for the ATS; • BI and RF representatives: define beam instrumentation limits for bunch intensity; • vacuum group: should define whether a wire scanner replacement could affect the need for a scrubbing run in 2012 (MD for wire scan breakage assumes the wire can be replaced during the next Xmas stop, but then the vacuum needs to be opened); MD Planning 2011/12

  7. MD presentations: • today LSWG: • MD overview; • proposal for a detailed plan of the MD; • beam requirements from the injectors (e.g. emittance and intensity); • any other special requirements e.g. for beam instrumentation • outside normal operational range? • MPP checks / formal procedure • Wednesday, LMC: • be prepared for one minute statement per MD for LMC (no slides) MD Planning 2011/12
