CO RADS and CT Severity Score in Covid 19

While both CO RADS and CT Severity Score are based on CT chest, their purpose is very different. CO RADS classification gives suspicion of COVID pneumonia based on the CT findings, whereas CT severity score gives the extent of involvement in the lungs based on CTA.

  1. CO RADS and CT Severity Score in Covid 19

  2. CO RADS classification While both CO RADS and CT Severity Scoreare based on CT chest, their purpose is very different. CO RADS classification gives suspicion of COVID pneumonia based on the CT findings, whereas CT severity score gives the extent of involvement in the lungs based on CTA. · When CT findings are normal or contain non-infectious abnormalities, then a CO RADS score of 1 is given to the patient. · When CT findings are consistent with infections other than COVID 19 then a score of 2 is achieved. · When CT findings are not clear, and COVID 19 cannot be completely ruled out, CO RADS score of 3 is assigned. · CT findings with non-typical suspicions of COVID 19 are assigned a CO RAD score of 4. · When typical abnormalities are found in the CT scan, CO RADS sore is 5. · The score is 6 when the RT PCR is positive for the patient.

  3. CT severity score CT severity score is a semi-quantitative scoring system utilized for estimating the involvement of COVID-19 related abnormalities based on the area involved. The CT severity score ranges from 0 (no involvement) to 25 (maximum involvement). When lung involvement is absent, the score is 0. However, the score increases as the percentage of lung involvement go higher. Higher the score, severe the problem.
