  2. Introduction • Have you ever dreamed of traveling the world in search of extraordinary sights that will change your life forever? If you have then you are in for a treat! Today you are all being transformed into great geographical explorers! We will be taking virtual field trips all around the planet earth! Get ready to be inspired and enlightened as we explore famous landmarks that have awed people from all over the world for hundreds even thousands of years!

  3. Task • You will be given a list of landmarks and some websites to visit, these websites contain some famous landmarks that you will read a little bit about. You need to know where each landmark is located (which continent and which country). After you have read something about each landmark, you will choose which one you want to research. • Information You Need To Know: What is your landmark, On what continent is it located, in what country is it located, how old is it, is it natural or manmade, if its manmade which group of people made it and for what purpose, if it’s natural how did it form, what made you choose this landmark, one really interesting fact about it. • After you have all of your information, organize it into a presentation to be done in front of the class. You will need to make a model of your landmark to be shown during your presentation. Good Luck Explorers!!!

  4. Process 1Look at each landmark and know where they are located. Then choose your favorite. • http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/most_famous_landmarks.htm • Pyramids of Giza • Great Wall of China • Taj Mahal • Stonehenge • Angkor • Acropolis of Athens • Colosseum • http://www.pbs.org/nationalparks/parks/ • Yellowstone • Yosemite • Everglades • http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/most_famous_landmarks4.htm • Mount Fuji • Mount Everest • Kilimanjaro • Mount Olympus • http://www.smithsonianmag.com/specialsections/lifelists/lifelist.html • Ester Island • Aurora Borealis • Serengeti • Iguazu Falls • Machu Picchu • Amazon Rain Forest • Galapagos Islands

  5. Process 2 • Using the websites I listed choose your landmark and gather information about the landmark. Write down what country it is in, how old it is, if it’s natural or manmade, if it’s manmade who made it, for what purpose was it made, if it’s natural how was it formed, also write down a fact that you found to be interesting, and tell us why you chose the landmark. • After you choose your landmark and you researched it go to, www.wikipedia.org.Using the search toolbar, type the name of the country where your landmark is located in order to find which continent the country is on. Also, you can use Wikipedia to find any other interesting information about your land mark.

  6. Process 3 • Using all the information you gathered, put together a presentation for the class. It should be at least 5 minuets long and include all of the facts and information that you were required to find.

  7. Process 4 • Now that the exploring is done and you know lots of facts about your landmark and you know what it looks like, I want you to make a model of your landmark out of whatever material you choose. The only requirement here is to get creative!
