Welcoming comments… • Welcome to Curriculum night. • Thanks to each one of you who took the time to attend tonight. • Your presence tonight signifies your commitment to your child’s education. • Our common goal is to work together as a team and give our children the learning experience that is needed for each of them to become the best they can be. That’s the Shiloh Way!

All About Ms. DelBosque • I was born in Chicago, Illinois. • My family moved to Snellville, GA when I was 3. • I attended Shiloh Elementary, Middle, and High School. • I graduated from Georgia College and State University (in Milledgeville). • I taught in Macon for 3 years. • This will be my third year in 5th grade here at Shiloh. • I am a HUGE Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons fan.

  4. All About Ms. Miskelly • I was born Jackson, Mississippi. • I just moved to Atlanta last month. • I graduated from Mississippi State University. • This will be my third year to teach 5th grade! • I am a big college football and basketball fan!

  9. Transportation Policy • All alternate plans must be sent via a signed note to the teacher. • NO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS made to the teacher about transportation changes will be accepted. • We too want “NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND”!

  10. Lunch Policy • Lunch: 12:15-12:40 (25 minutes) • Lunch can be purchased through the cafeteria. Milk can be purchased for those who bring their lunch and wish to purchase a container of milk. • Parents can join their child for lunch. Please wait for your child outside of the cafeteria if you plan to join us. • Fast food and soft drinks are a not allowed in the café. Please help us follow the rules.

  11. Birthdays • We are happy to help celebrate your child’s birthday. • Please remember these guidelines if you are providing birthday treats. • School ice cream treats can be purchased for $1.00 a treat. • (This practice can make it easy for parents while supporting our school needs all in one.) • If you are sending in a treat for the class, please send it in prior to our scheduled lunch time (12:15) so that it may be eaten at lunch. • We do not have the proper utensils to cut and serve cakes, so please avoid sending in foods that must be cut.

Attendance • Absences and Tardies • Arrival- first bell 8:10, tardy bell 8:15 • Morning tasks: students begin morning work upon arrival to the classroom • Due to federal and state laws, referrals are required for excessive absences and tardies. • PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS PRESENT AND ON TIME EACH DAY.

Agenda Book • Agenda books will be used as a daily tool for communication and to assist the student with homework assignments and organizational skills. • Please CHECK and SIGN your child’s agenda nightly(for points). • Students will be held accountable to record assignments in a timely fashion on the day posted.

  14. Friday Folders • Graded work will be sent home weekly. • Please review these papers. Sign any papers that are on the “Sign & Return” side of the folder. • Please keep ALL other papers.

  16. Grading The GCPS grading scale will be used. A= 90-100 B= 80-89 C=74-79 D=70-73 U= Below 70

  17. Homework • I ask that you truly make sure that your child is reading an age appropriate book each night for at least 20 min and sign off on his/her reading log. • Your child is responsible for copying down his/her homework in each class everyday.
