Why Ask People For Money? • We are not simply asking people for money; we are inviting them to become a part of large, collaborative mission effort in one way or another • College students time but no $ • Adults $ but no time • In order for our work to serve its purpose of being a part of the mission of God, more than the 30+ team members MUST be involved • Many people have a desire to be a part of God’s work; you can serve as their avenue into it
Example • King David had such an opportunity when he challenged the people to underwrite the cost of building a temple for the Lord. (I Chronicles 29:9, 14) • Because David knew that all the world's wealth ultimately belonged to God, he boldly challenged others to channel their resources toward building a physical testimony to the Lord: a temple. As you raise funds, you will be channeling the resources of God's people toward building a human testimony: a witness for Christ. (GoCorps MPD Manual 2011)
Important Things to Keep in Mind • Fundraising is not just a financial matter; faith plays just as vital of a role (Phillipians 4:19) • Before you begin, develop a plan of action • We are raising money as a TEAM, not individuals; we have an ultimate goal that we are working together to reach. • Why do people give?
