  1. GEOSTATISTIC MODELING OF THE SPREAD OF FARMER SYSTEM IN EUROPE JP Bocquet-Appel* and S Naji (CNRS, Paris) *bocquet-appel@ivry.cnrs.fr

  2. The maps • Definition of the geographical area (Europe, from Atlantic to Ural?)  • Maps of Europe (raster), commun to all the participants, to facilitate thematic interactions and data exchanges   • Maps reconstituted of biomes at different time-periods (10,000-5,000 calBP)

  3. Geostatistic modeling: Kridging  • The earliest space-time markers for the onset of the agricultural system at the locality (x,y): Data bases of 14C dates • Auditing the databases  • Gridding: technique of research for the optimal informed grid (N-points)

  4. Formation of the isochrones indicating the speed of spread • Mapping the direction of spread on the grid (directional derivatives)  • Geostatistic modeling: Kridging  • Kridging the sample of 14C dates on a grid

  5. Neanderthal contraction

  6. AMH expansion

  7. Integration of geostatistic modeling of spread of the farming system (speed and direction) with other modeling (diffusion equations 3D…).
